Pitcairn hoping for population boost

Updated 5 December 2013, 11:24 AEDT

How would you like to live in one of the most isolated places on earth, which last made world headlines over an extraordinary case of widespread child abuse, and has next to no jobs?

You would hardly call it a marketer's dream, but the governor of Pitcairn Island, Vicki Treadell, has taken up the challenge.

She wants to triple the population of what is still a British overseas territory, from 50 to 150.

Presenter: Richard Ewart

Speaker: Vicki Treadell, governor, Pitcairn Island
