PNG company wins Forest Stewardship Council certification

Papua New Guinea's Cloudy Bay Sustainable Forestry has won full Forest Stewardship Council certification for its forest products, the second major company in PNG to do so.

It is a subsidiary of PNG Sustainable Development, the Charitable Trust which holds the a majority stake in the giant Ok Tedi Copper Mini on behalf of the people of Western Province.

Cloudy Bay has been under fire from PNGSDP's critics for failing to make a profit.

The orgainisation's Chairman Rob de Fegely told Jemima Garrett achieving Forest Stewardship Council certification is a big step forward.
