PNG HIV infection a Highlands problem

Papua New Guinea's HIV infection problem is centred in the Highlands region.

That's according to the Chairman of the PNG National AIDS Council, Dr Benare Bun.

He says part of the reason for the prevalence of Highlanders among those infected with the virus is the cultural practice of polygamy, men having multiple wives.
