PNG Hunters sweat on possible Qld Cup finals spot

Updated 25 August 2014, 10:56 AEST

The PNG Hunters' Queensland Cup finals hopes are still alive after they scored nine tries to crush Souths Logan Magpies by 44 points to 14 in Brisbane.

With one round of the home and away season to go, the Hunters are sixth, just a point outside the finals spots, and with a bye to come in the final round, they have a guaranteed two points next week.

The Hunters' media manager Martin Liri says that will be enough to take them into the finals if Ipswich Jets lose at home to Redcliffe, or Tweed Heads go down by 12 points or more at home to Mackay.
