The OFC U-20 Women's championship has kicked off in Auckland with a big win for the hosts New Zealand, and for Papua New Guinea.

The New Zealanders demolished a very young Vanuatu side 12-0, scoring nine of those goals in the first half.

PNG were made to fight somewhat harder for the points against Tonga.

The game was goalless at half time but PNG scored four times in the second half with goals from Dianna Awele, Talitha Irakau, Yvonne Gabong and Nicolla Niaman.

PNG's coach Rachell Wadunah says it was a tough first half.
