PNG minister pledges to revive rural air services

Papua New Guinea's Civil Aviation Minister has pledged to do whatever it takes to revive rural air services after decades of neglect.

Davis Steven says local airstrips are often the only link for rural communities to the rest of the country and to many important services.

He's been telling a forum on rural air services in Mount Hagen that the government is committed to a vast improvement, but he says they can't do it alone.
