PNG's cricket team has missed out on a place at the World Cup finals next year, after losing their final qualifier to Hong Kong by three wickets in New Zealand.

PNG scored 8/255 off their 50 overs, and Hong Kong reached their target with nearly 14 overs to spare.

The Barramundis ended the tournament in 4th place overall, and their international ranking has risen from 19th to 16th.

PNG's captain Chris Amini says their performance exceeded expectations.
