Quake shuts down generators in Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands' authorities are working to establish the extent of damage after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck on Guadalcanal.

The magnitude 6.5 tremor caused a power outage in the capital Honiara, 39 kilometres north-east of the epicentre.
