The people of Papua New Guinea will be able to watch the fortunes of their Rugby League team on local television when it enters the Queensland Cup Competition next year.

Papua New Guinea's State owned television service, Kundu TV, has signed a deal at the headquarters of the Queensland Rugby League at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane to gain rights to broadcast the Queensland Cup throughout PNG. PNG's Sports Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, flew to Brisbane for the signing of the TV rights deal and he spoke to Australia Network's Pacific Correspondent, Sean Dorney. Sean has a particular interest in the sport. He captained the national PNG League team, the Kumuls, way back in 1976.

Presenter: Sean Dorney
