Updated 30 November 2012, 18:23 AEST

A few weeks ago we reported on a man from Fiji who was travelling around North Queensland buying up surplus mechanical cane harvesters.

The Chairman of South Pacific Fertilizers, John May, has a vision to mechanise Fiji's sugar industry and end the hand-cutting of cane.

Mr May is back in Fiji with a long list of equipment he hopes to aquire and then ship home.

He told rural reporter Marty McCarthy there's also a number of Queensland farmers who are willing to help their counterparts in Fiji.

Presenter: Marty McCarthy

Speaker: John May chairman of South Pacific Fertilizers Limited
