In negotiating alliances needed to form government, Solomon Islands expert Dr Tarcisius Tara Kabutaulaka discusses why the hard work starts now among the 32 independent MPs.

He says it's peculiar that the members of the legislature that passed the Political Parties Act, to strengthen political parties, mostly chose to run as independents.
