Rebuilding wharves in Solomon Islands continues

Updated 28 January 2013, 17:47 AEDT

A project rebuilding rural wharves and jetties in Solomon Islands is continuing with communities from the Siota area using the recently opened new wharf at Niumara.

It's been built as part the Domestic Maritime Support Project, backed by the government and various international donors including the Asia Development Bank.

The new wharf is boosting communications and trade between the country's Central Province and the rest of Solomon Islands.

Steve Rice spoke to David Ling, ADB's team leader for the Project.
