Regional aid groups jostling for space, says new SPC head

Updated 10 March 2014, 9:42 AEDT

The new head of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community is asking whether there are too many aid groups at work in the region.

SPC's Director-General, Dr Colin Tukuitonga, will have his first meeting with officials at Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade this week and he is questioning the cost of current operations, measured against the benefits.

He says the development space in the Pacific is just too crowded.

Presenter: Richard Ewart

Speaker: Dr Colin Tukuitonga, director-general of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community
