Updated 8 May 2013, 8:54 AEST

The vanilla industry in Tonga has just received two significant boosts.

Heilala Vanilla has just been succesful in securing markets in Japan after help from the European Union and Secretariat of the Pacific Community.

At the same time an Australian and New Zealand vanilla company "Queen" is to make the most significant single direct investment in the Tongan Vanilla industry for decades.

It will help growers reinvigorate their vanilla vines, helpthem convert to organic farming methods and provide education so that growers can more precisely cure their vanilla beans.
