Rice imports ease Kiribati shortage amid cry to grow their own

Kiribati has imported eight containers of rice from Marshall Islands to overcome a major shortage that has continued for almost three months.

At the same time an academic and member of parliament, Mareko Puta Tofiga has called on the agriculture department to investigate the possibility of growing both rice and wheat so Kiribati doesn't have to rely on imports.
