Rubbish powered golf carts for SIDS Conference

Like many small Pacific nations, much of Samoa's power is generated from imported petroleum products.

But next month at SIDS, the UN Conference on Small Island Developing States, Samoa's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will be demonstrating how organic waste can be turned into electricity.

Sala Sagato from the Samoan Government's renewable energy division, says delegates at the conference will be ferried around the SIDS village in golf carts powered by kitchen and garden rubbish.
