Saltwater crocodiles cause problems in city of Cairns

The saltwater crocodile has an extensive range throughout Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, northern Australia and into Asia.

They are big, dangerous and a predator of humans.

The animal is a protected species in Australia, but a surge in sightings in the northern Australian city of Cairns is causing anxiety for the local citizens.

This has prompted the state of Queensland's Environment Minister, Andrew Powell to visit the town to discuss the problem.
