Samoa will be hosting it's first ever half Ironman contest next month.

The gruelling event involves swimming for two kilometres, a 90 kilometre bike ride, and a half marathon run at the end.

Seti Afoa, Director of Samoa International Events, says the event should attract athletes from Australia and New Zealand who want to race somewhere warm during the winter.
