Internet users in Papua New Guinea are hoping 2013 will be the year sky-high prices come down.

Until now Telikom PNG has had an almost total monopoly on international access allowing it to charge what it wants.

As a result, internet prices can be as much as 200 times what they are in Australia.

David Conn, CEO of the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce, told Jemima Garrett that might be about to change.
