Socceroos in East Asian Cup after win over Chinese Taipei

Updated 10 December 2012, 10:00 AEDT

The Socceroos have joined Japan, China and South Korea in qualifying for next year's East Asian Cup after beating Chinese Taipei 8-0.

Australia needed to win by at least five goals to earn a spot in the 2013 tournament in South Korea next July.

Holger Osieck's men had reached that margin by the 34th minute, with Adam Taggart and Aziz Behich bagging two goals each.

But, in studio with Geraldine Coutts, Steve Horvat a former Socceroos defender and ABC soccer expert admitted it was an easy win.
