Solomon Islands teachers call off their national strike

Schools in Solomon Islands are due to re-open this morning after teachers' leaders abandoned a nationwide strike called in defiance of a government ban.

The Solomon Islands National Teachers Association has finally reached agreement with the national government, ending a stand-off over pay and conditions that began late last year.

Sen Lam spoke to the NTA's Secretary-General, Johnley Hatimoana, shortly after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Honiara last night.
