Spectacular PNG Birds of Paradise in Australian exhibition

A new exhibition showcasing the emblematic Birds-of-Paradise and their unique relationship with Papua New Guinea cultures is being prepared for opening this month at the Melbourne Museum.

It will feature over 60 spectacular bird specimens native to the rainforests of Papua New Guinea.

Dr Michael Mel from the University of Goroka in PNG has been closely involved in the development of the exhibition.

He discussed the birds and their relationship to humans with Isabel Genoux.
