Strong women's turnout for PNG Local Government elections

To Papua New Guinea now, where 35 women are among more than 1,000 candidates nominated to contest in local government elections in Central Province.

So what chance do the women have? Women's rights have been in the spotlight lately in PNG, with stories of sorcery-related murders dominating front pages locally and even internationally. It's prompted strong debate about women's rights but is it having an impact on people's perception of women's role in politics?
