The challenges of doing business with China in PNG

China will continue to invest in Papua New Guinea but not in a systematic manner.

Graeme Smith from the business school at the University of Sydney, says China's investment in PNG will continue to grow but there is a cautionary message attached to the growth.

Tension between Chinese staff and PNG over rates of pay and communication barriers are some of the issues that still need to be dealt with.

He believes there are plenty more Chinese PNG investments ahead as long as attention is paid to the detail in the contracts.
