The Pacific Platform for Disaster Risk Management underway in Noumea

More than 180 disaster risk management professionals and water resource professionals from across the Pacific and the Caribbean are attending the 4th Session of the Pacific Platform for Disaster Risk Management.

One of the key aims of the meeting in Noumea is to develop a new Regional Action Plan for water and sanitation in the Pacific and to come up with a roadmap to integrate disaster risk reduction and climate change adaption beyond 2015.

Dr Russell Howorth, the Director of the SOPAC Division of Secretariat of Pacific Communities or SPC says climate change is addiding to the problems of water supoply and santiation.
