Tonga to host 2019 Pacific Games

Tonga has been awarded hosting rights for the Pacific Games in 2019.

The Tongan bid won the vote by 16 to six over its rival Tahiti.

It will be the first time Tonga has hosted the region's premier sports event.

The delegations met in Wallis and Futuna which is hosting the Mini-Pacific Games next year.

The Executive Director of the Pacific Games Council, Andrew Minogue was at the all important vote and spoke to Richard Ewart about the outcome.
