Union disputes claim Fiji's unemployment falling

Updated 15 May 2013, 9:24 AEST

Fiji's trade union movement is disputing claims by the interim government that unemployment has dropped.

Labour Minister Jone Usamate based his claim on the number of job advertisements that he's noticed in newspapers recently.

The National Secretary of the Fiji Trade Unions Congress, Felix Anthony, says he disputes reports that unemployment figures have dropped.

The Congress says workers' rights are being seriously violated in Fiji.
