Tourism operators in Hawaii say the US shutdown is just a "small bump in road" but warn it could have a significant impact on employment.

Hundreds of thousands of government employees across the US have been forced to take unpaid leave or leave withoutpay.

The executive director of the Hawaii Visitors Bureau, Ross Birch, says many national parks are affected.
