US shutdown to devastate American Samoan economy

Pili says the Federal shutdown in the United States will have a devastating effect on the territory's economy, especially if the budget impasse in Washington is not solved soon.

Mr Pili says Governor Lolo M. Moliga met senior officials this morning to discuss the implications of the shutdown.

He says the Territory received 87 per cent of its funding from Washington.

Mr Pili tells Brian Abbott the shutdown will affect all areas of life in American Samoa.
