Vanuatu project to give unwanted babies a second chance

Updated 19 July 2013, 10:08 AEST

The high rate of teenage pregnancies in Vanuatu often leads to cases where young mothers abandon their babies.

But a Vanuatu woman is hoping to curb this trend and provide unwanted babies with a second chance.

Pastor Dorolyn Laloyer has begun a project called 'El-Haven' which she hopes will provide a care centre for the babies and a place of education for young mothers.

She says that young mothers abandoning their babies is an area of growing concern.
