It's been 150 years since the first people from Vanuatu were brought to Australia to work on Queensland's sugarcane plantations.

It was part of an infamous trade known as 'Blackbirding'.

To mark the anniversary, the Vanuatu Rugby League is sending a squad to play in a four-game tour of regional Queensland.

The teams will be made up of a combination of Ni-Vans and Australian descendants of the Islanders.

Sam Bolitho asked the organiser Dane Campbell for some details.

Presenter: Sam Bolitho

Speaker: The founder of the Vanuatu Rugby League, Dane Campbell
