The role of sport in improving the lives of people across the Pacific will be top of the agenda at a Pacific Youth and Sport Conference later this year.

The Oceania Football Confederation is working with the Secretary for the Pacific Community to organise the gathering of 1,000 young people aged between 16 and 25 from 25 Pacific nations.

Organiser, Franck Castillo, from the OFC says the conference in Noumea in December will examine how sport can play a role in cutting diseases such as diabetes, ending illiteracy and tackling problems such as violence against women.
