Pacific Break 6th June 2014

This weekend on Pacific Break, we chat with Phnom Penh-based, New Caledonian dj and producer – Christophe Gargiulo

He samples Melanesian vocals in his electronic beats, recorded during his days of living in Vanuatu. We feature new music from Fijian group, KKU (aka Kula Kei Uluivuya), plus we do a Pacific Break ‘Flashback’ to revisit a song with a message about overcoming challenges. It was written by a 15 year old Tongan girl, who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2008. And  we hop into our vaka (canoe) time machine to trek over the seas and back in time on ‘Klassic Kona’, which this week takes us across to Tahiti and back to 1973.
