Indonesia has stepped up its threats against video file sharing service YouTube over an anti-Islamic film.

The information ministry wrote to internet service providers on Monday telling them to block access if YouTube fails to remove the film.

On Thursday, the ministry warned Youtube has until the end of the week to remove the film from its site before it acts on its threat.

The 17-minute film is made by far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders.

It combines images of the September 11 attacks on New York and the 2004 Madrid bombings with quotes from the Koran.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has urged Indonesians not to resort to violence over the film.
