Sixteen detained from 'illegal' Indonesian fishing vessel
Updated
The Australian government says 16 people have been detained on an Indonesian boat allegedly fishing illegally in Australian waters.
The minister for fisheries, Tony Burke, says the 34-metre Indonesian boat is the largest illegal foreign fishing boat to have been apprehended in Australian waters in the past year.
Mr Burke says a border patrol navy ship detained the 16 crew and found two ton of fish on board.
The boat has been escorted to Darwin.
