Olympic torch heads to Argentina

The Olympic torch has arrived in Buenos Aires amid intense security.

The torch relay is expected to continue there after protests dogged its earlier stops in Europe and the US.

Protest banners have already been erected on Buenos Aires main avenue, and both Chinese groups from Argentina's very small Asian community and human rights groups have promised to stage 'surprise' protests during the rally.

But around 3,000 Argentinian police officers, who have a lot of experience dealing with protestors, have been deployed along the route, where about 80 of the country's top athletes and celebrities will carry the torch.
