New NZ consul for French Pacific countries

New Zealand's foreign minister, Winston Peters, has announced the replacement of Wellington's Consul General for the three French Pacific countries and territories.

Oceania Flash reports career diplomat Simon Draper will be based in Nouméa in New Caledonia.

Mr Draper will be accredited there and to French Polynesia, and Wallis and Futuna.

Mr Peters says New Zealand and the French Pacific Territories share a significant trading relationship and have been working closely in conservation, scientific research and health.

Simon Draper will replace Eleanor Anne Thomson in August.
