Tonga king meets with Chinese defence minister

The Tongan king has met with China's defence minister, Liang Guanglie, in Beijing.
The Xinhua News Agency reports Tongan King Taufa'ahau Tupou the fifth and Liang Guanglie have expressed the hope to enhance exchange and cooperation between the two militaries.
Mr Liang says China values relations with Tonga, and is ready to further promote ties between the two nations on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
He says their militaries will continue to work together to expand exchanges and increase cooperation.
King Tupou the fifth says he hopes the two armed forces would continue to advance bilateral ties.
