New Caledonia to host womens' rights meeting

Women from French countries and territories in the Pacific meet in New Caledonia this week to discuss progress in women's rights .

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community says the meeting is expected to draw over 70 representatives from governments, local bodies and non-governmental organisations in New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna.

Oceania Flash reports the main item on the agenda will be the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.
