Singapore hosts dengue fever meeting
Updated
Health officials from more than 20 countries are taking part in a meeting in Singapore this week to finalise a strategy against dengue fever.
The five-day meeting is co-hosted by the World Health Organisation and Singapore's National Environment Agency.
WHO Western Pacific region spokesman John Ehrenberg says it is hoped the meeting will produce a draft plan to help countries ensure they have key measures in place to fight dengue outbreaks.
The strategy would include stronger surveillance systems, better clinical management, and better response measures to outbreaks of the mosquito borne disease.
