NKorea, US conclude talks on emergency food aid

North Korea's government says talks with a visiting American government delegation on possible emergency food aid have been held in a sincere atmosphere.

The official Korean Central News Agency says the four-day discussions have now ended.

A US research institute has warned North Korea again runs the risk of famine, because food prices have almost tripled in the last year.

The UN World Food Program has also said time is running out to avert a humanitarian tragedy due to acute and worsening food shortages following severe floods last summer.
