Taiwan ruling party chief heads to China

China's president, Hu Jintao, is preparing to meet the head of Taiwan's ruling party, Wu Po-hsiung, in the highest level meeting between the old foes in 60 years.

Our China correspondent, Stephen McDonell, report the agenda for their meeting will include the introduction of weekend passenger flights to and from Taiwan and an increase in the number of Chinese tourist visits to Taiwan.

The trip is seen as further indication of improving relations between the one-time cold war enemies since the election of Ma Ying-jeou as Taiwan's new president.

During the earthquake disaster, China allowed Taiwanese workers to join the rescue efforts and Taiwanese charities, businesses and individuals have raised billions of dollars for the disaster relief.
