Australia, Chile sign free trade deal
Updated
Australia and Chile have signed a free trade agreement.
Australia's trade minister, Simon Crean, says two-way trade amounts to more than $US810-million-dollars a year and Australia invests three-billion U-S dollars in Chile.
He says the deal's expected to come into force in January.
"It's an agreement of the highest quality," he said.
"On goods, tariffs on all existing trade will be removed by 2015 and tariffs covering 97 per cent of trade in both directions will be eliminated from day one."
