Canada's foreign minister has resigned after it emerged he left classified documents at the apartment of his former girlfriend.
The resignation came ahead of a Monday night airing of a French language interview with Maxime Bernier's former girlfriend.
She revealed that he had left the sensitive documents in her apartment in April.
She later returned them to Foreign Affairs.
Prime Minister Harper accepted Mr Bernier's resignation, acknowledging the gravity of the mistake.
It's the latest in a string of incidents involving the foreign affairs minister that's embarrassed Mr Harper's minority government.
Mr Bernier had already drawn criticism over his relationship with the woman becasue she had once been married to a member of a Quebec motorcycle gang.
And last week he pledged a Canadian military transport plane for aid delivey to Burma, when none was available.
Ottawa spent nearly a million dollars to rent a plane from Russia.
