Iraq hopeful of playing World Cup qualifier
Updated
The Iraqi soccer team has arrived in Australia, still hoping to play its World Cup qualifier against the Socceroos.
Sunday's match in Brisbane is in doubt after soccer's governing body, FIFA, suspended Iraq for one year.
Football's world governing body FIFA has suspended Iraq because the country's Government dissolved its football association.
The government has until Thursday night to reverse the decision or the World Cup qualifier won't ahead.
Iraq's coach Adnan Hamad says he's confident the situation will be resolved.
"This is very important for us, for our people in Iraq, and we hope we play that much," he said.
FIFA's boss Sepp Blatter shares that sentiment, and is confident the Iraqi Government will back down.
