Four charged in Solomons over misuse of aid money
Updated
The Corruption Squad of the Solomon Islands Police Force has charged four men over the misuse of nearly $US15,000, originally provided as Ausaid Development Funding.
Since 2003, police from the RAMSI assistance mission have led most investigations.
But the latest corruption investigation, and its resulting charges, were led by local officers..
Acting Police Commissioner Peter Marshall says it provies his officers have the skills and he expects more investigations will be carried out.
The investigation began in January and looked at financial transactions in the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and Medical Services, dating back to 2005.
