Thai cabinet minister resigns amid monarchy insult allegations
Updated
A Thai cabinet minister has quit after being accused of insulting the country's monarchy.
The minister, akrapob Penkair, announced his resignation at a Bangkok media conference, but denied any wrongdoing.
On Thursday, police said they had enough evidence to press ahead with charges against Mr Jakrapob.
The allegations relate to a speech the minister gave last year about the 2006 coup, which toppled Thaksin Shinawatra as prime minister and brought in a military government.
Mr Jakrapob could face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty.
