Terms set for Solomons' Guadalcanal inquiry
Updated
The Solomon Islands cabinet has approved the terms of reference of a commission of inquiry set up to look into land dealings on Guadalcanal and the loss of land and property during ethnic tensions five years ago.
Prime Minister Derek Sikua says Brian Brunton from Papua New Guinea has accepted the appointment to chair the commission.
Dr Sikua says two other commissioners will come from Vanuatu and Fiji.
Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation quotes Dr Sikua as saying a government sub-committee has recommended that commissioners must be neutral and independent.
SIBC reports Dr Sikua declined to say how much the government will spend on the inquiry.
