Study reveals bleak future for PNG rainforest
Updated
A study shows the destruction of Papua New Guinea's rainforest has been far greater than previously thought.
The University of Papua New Guinea and the Australian National University have analysed 30 years of satellite imagery.
Their report says that by 2021, most of PNG's accessible forest will be destroyed or degraded.
The country has the world's third largest tropical rainforest after the Amazon and the Congo, but the PNG government has allowed widespread logging.
