Millions still in tents after China quake
Updated
Millions of people in China's Sichuan province are living in tents following last month's earthquake, and health officials are becoming increasingly concerned about the potential spread of disease.
In Mianzhu, 65 kilometres south of Beichuan, one tent city is so large that residents have set up hospitals, schools and shops.
One of the camp's disease control team members says each tent is home to as many as 19 people.
He says with summer and the rainy season approaching, the amount of flies and mosquitoes will increase and the danger of infectious diseases will rise significantly.
Earlier, China raised the confirmed death toll from the earthquake to just over 69,000, with more than 18,000 people still unaccounted for.
